Indian Army’s Infantry Regiments, as we know today, is the result of a major reorganisation of The British Indian Army in 1922; moving away from a “Single Battalion Regiment” to a large number of Battalions grouped under one Regiment. Each Regiment was based on a distinct regional and, or, class composition. Broadly, this distinctive composition of each Regiment prevails to this day, though in a more refined form.
While each Regiment has chronicled the achievements of its battalions and the bravery of its soldiers, a comprehensive history of India’s infantry regiment has not been put together so far. The author of this book focuses primarily on the history of The Regiments Post-Independence. He has highlighted the achievements of each Regiment and its Bravehearts, both in war and peace. The book is comprehensive, engaging, and has been written in an easy-to-read style.
